Our supply chains include providers of cleaning materials and equipment, staffing and recruitment agencies, facilities management partners and other service suppliers. We are aware that risks of modern slavery can arise at different stages of these supply chains, including in the sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing of products and provision of labour.
We assess potential risk based on sector, geography and type of service provided. Where higher risks are identified, we take additional steps to understand working conditions and business practices, and we seek reassurances that effective controls are in place to prevent exploitation.
All key suppliers and contractors are required to confirm that they operate in accordance with applicable labour laws, prohibit forced or compulsory labour and do not participate in human trafficking. We expect them to have appropriate policies, due diligence procedures and training in place.
Cleaners W1 conducts proportionate supplier checks and audits, focusing on those areas where the risk of modern slavery is considered greater. These audits may include reviewing labour practices, examining documentation, meeting with management and, where appropriate, speaking with workers. If issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to develop corrective action plans, with timescales for improvement. Where a supplier fails to address serious concerns, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery within Cleaners W1. Relevant managers and team leaders receive guidance on recognising indicators of exploitation and on the steps to take if concerns arise. We also communicate our expectations to staff involved in procurement, recruitment and contract management so they understand their responsibilities.
